World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats are increased in value. The value is the sum of all the upgraded benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high dependent on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the number of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.
It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at lower levels. Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.
The level of an item will allow players to compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a good indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it will be capable of dealing with. item upgrader can also be used to compare items when examining a vendor's inventory.
On PC, you can check the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, including its ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are many theories about how the level of an item is determined. One theory states that the level of an item is calculated using a formula that calculates the value of the stats of an item really are. It considers that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets increase the item's value. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is typically close to Blizzard's real item level.
It's not the only factor that affects the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped may change its stats. For example, it could add a level to the item's haste, or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher value.
Item Stats
The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of them in many ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon, and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.
The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare tiers will be upgraded several times at higher prices.
Another method of altering the stats of an item is through affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, add a special ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.
All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other options for rerolling.
Players can upgrade an item by specific stats or reroll attaches. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the level of the item, however all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the range, unless it's an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attachments, or pick which stats to boost. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item level, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to acquire better equipment earlier in the game, and is therefore more beneficial in the initial game run as opposed to later ones, as most players prioritize higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each item level. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn using the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that causes damage by 5percent. These items are available in the shops or made with the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be expensive and not all upgrades will be successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade fails.
When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased by so much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..
The success of an can be affected by the Luck of that item. Every item has a success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.
The item upgrade overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
