World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type, it may boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.
Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats are increased in value. The value is the sum of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the fact that many perks must be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is limited to a lower level). Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment, players can compare the item level. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it's able to deal. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.
On PC, you are able to see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be located by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are various theories about how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory says that the item level is calculated by an equation that determines how valuable an item's stats actually are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different values and that gems in sockets increase the item's overall value. This can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is typically close to Blizzard's real item level.
It's not the only thing that affects the level of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste or crit score. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game utilizes them in many ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat mods which are then boosted by the player's level.
Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.
Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. item upgrades are used to provide items with extra damage, special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by adding a name.
Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using the arrows that circle. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.
Players can choose to upgrade an item with specific stats, or reroll attaches. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat in that range unless they are a unique item, or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another aspect that can be modified by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item level, and the item compare interface wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of the properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game, and is therefore more beneficial in the initial game run as opposed to later ones, since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.
Additionally there are certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shop, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade or to stop players from losing their items if it fails.
When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of completing the upgrade successfully and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.
The luck of an item can influence the success of an upgrade. Each item has a success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.
The item upgrade overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
